A Kuwaiti oil tanker received the impact of a projectile launched from Iran early Tuesday morning while in the port of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
The company assured that the attack caused a fire and several damages to the tanker that could result in an oil spill, according to a statement collected by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The impact, which left no injuries or victims, was attributed to Iran, which launches missiles and drones every night against US and Israeli targets in Persian Gulf countries in retaliation for the attack by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran.
The Corporation reported that the tanker was fully loaded with crude oil at the time of the attack.
Shortly before, the British agency for Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO, in English) reported an attack against a vessel 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai (about 57 kilometers).
Since February 28, when the United States and Israel’s war against Iran began, the UKMTO has reported 24 incidents on ships around the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic channel blocked by Tehran through which a fifth of global oil trade normally flows.
Of these 24 incidents, 16 were projectiles that hit the vessels.
