Santo Domingo.– Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) leader, Andrés Navarro, asserted that the growing discontent expressed by different sectors of the population is a response to a comparison between current economic and social conditions and those that, he claims, existed before 2020 during the administrations of former President Danilo Medina.
The statements were released this Monday through the PLD’s official communication channels, where Navarro maintained that the perception of a decline in the quality of life is not a narrative created by the political organization, but a sentiment that, as he indicated, he has gathered directly during his tours and meetings with citizens in different communities across the country.
The member of the Political Committee pointed out that numerous people express concern about the increase in economic difficulties and consider that their situation has worsened compared to previous years.
Navarro also argued that this perception is supported by official data related to public investment and other indicators linked to national development. As he explained, over the last few years there has been a reduction in areas that, in his view, directly impact the well-being of the population.
The former Minister of Education stated that there is a sense of frustration among part of the citizenry because the expectations generated during the 2020 electoral process have not materialized as expected.

The statements come amidst the political landscape leading up to the upcoming electoral processes, where the main parties continue to defend opposing visions regarding the country’s economic and social situation.
While the PLD insists that the living conditions of Dominicans have experienced a setback during the current administration, the Government and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) maintain that the challenges faced by the country have been influenced by international factors and highlight the progress achieved in different sectors during their administration.
