San Francisco de Macorís.– Antonio “Niño” Castillo, a renowned jurist, notary, and sports leader from San Francisco de Macorís, and father of the artist Diomary Celeste Castillo, known as “La Mala,” passed away this Friday at the age of 85.
Castillo was married to educator Celeste Adalgisa Jiménez and developed an extensive professional and social career in the Duarte province. He was also the brother of Julio César and Germán Amaury Castillo, as well as the late Luis Manuel “Luichy” Castillo.
During his professional career, he worked at Banco Popular Dominicano, where he served for a decade as an assistant manager. Subsequently, he worked at Nordestana Corporación de Crédito and, since the year 2000, he practiced as a public notary.
In the professional association sphere, he presided over the Duarte section of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic and the Duarte branch of the Association of Notaries for 14 consecutive years.
His connection to sports also marked part of his life. He was a baseball and softball player and, in 2016, he was inducted into the Northeast Region Hall of Fame for his career in those disciplines.

In addition, he was known for his love of music and his participation in karaoke gatherings in San Francisco de Macorís, where he especially cultivated a taste for boleros, ballads, and tropical music.
His remains are being waked at the San Francisco Funeral Home, where family, friends, legal professionals, athletes, and members of the community have gathered to support his loved ones and bid him a final farewell.
