Los Angeles.- Los Angeles County authorities arrested an armed man over the weekend at U.S. President Donald Trump’s golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes, ahead of the president’s visit scheduled for yesterday, local authorities reported this Tuesday.
Trump will headline a speech tonight before the Republican National Committee at a party fundraiser at his golf facility located in this exclusive area of the Los Angeles coast.
In a statement, the authorities detailed that on Sunday, August 2, they responded to a call from federal agents dressed in plainclothes regarding the presence of a suspicious individual on the property.
The man was touring the facilities taking photographs and videos before agents from the Lomita city police station stopped him.
Authorities identified the man as Jeanine John Taele, 38, a resident of Downey, and during the arrest, they found a magazine with 16 hollow-point bullets in his pants pocket.

Upon searching their vehicle, officers found a handgun loaded with a round in the chamber, along with an additional magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.
“Taele was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possession of armor-piercing/prohibited ammunition,” the document states.

Subsequently, detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau, assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), conducted a search of his residence where additional weapons, high-capacity magazines, as well as “several notebooks with concerning statements” were found, according to authorities.
This morning, investigators presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of filing charges.
Trump’s visit to California comes in a context of tension with the state’s current governor, Gavin Newsom, who has criticized the fact that the president’s presence in the Golden State is not to address the situation of those affected by the 2025 wildfires, but to raise funds for his party.
Trump will travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to promote tax relief initiatives, including proposals for zero taxes on tips, social security, and overtime.
