Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic Army delivered the renovated Los Cacaos and El Corte border posts, located in the municipality of Pedro Santana, Elías Piña province, as part of the actions to improve service conditions for the troops deployed in the border area.
The delivery was led by the Army’s commanding general, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, after concluding the rehabilitation works that included improvements to the accommodation, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom areas, in addition to painting work and repairs to the electrical and plumbing systems.
These military positions, located on the International Highway, in the border area with the Republic of Haiti, represent strategic points for surveillance, patrolling, and the permanent presence of military forces in that corridor.
The Army indicated that the recovery of these facilities will allow for strengthening the operational capacity of the soldiers, facilitating supervision tasks, and contributing to the safeguarding of national sovereignty and the control of activities carried out in the border zone.

The event was attended by the governor of Elías Piña, Migdaly de los Santos; the mayor of Pedro Santana, Starling Contreras Aquino; the commander of the Third Infantry Brigade, Colonel Domingo Cruz Sosa, ERD; and the commander of the Eleventh Infantry Battalion, Colonel Cristian Pérez Feliz, ERD, among other authorities.
