DGDC and the Army bring medical and social assistance to families in Bánica, Elías Piña

Elías Piña.- The General Directorate for Community Development (DGDC) and the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) brought the medical and social assistance program they carry out jointly to the municipality of Bánica, Elías Piña province, where residents received health services, medications, and other community-based care.

The operation, which had the collaboration of the National Health Service (SNS), the National Health Insurance (SENASA), and the Single System of Beneficiaries (SIUBEN), also included the delivery of basic supplies, household appliances, food rations, maternity kits for pregnant women, mosquito nets, and mattresses, as well as other items.

The event, part of the DGDC’s Community Route, was led by the Director General of Community Development, Dr. Modesto Guzmán, and the Commander of the Dominican Republic Army, Major General Iván Jorge Camino Pérez, who highlighted the interest of President Luis Abinader.

“These major social assistance events seek nothing more than to connect with the community, make an impact on health issues, and resolve specific problems. A comprehensive event that allows for finding solutions to needs,” stated Guzmán.

Meanwhile, the commander of the DR Army, Camino Pérez, said that “it is our intention to bring the best with these great initiatives for this community, this town, this province.”

For her part, the governor of Elías Piña, Migdalys de los Santos, explained that the initiative “is nothing more than bringing each of the social programs closer to our communities.”

The activity also featured the participation of the mayor of Bánica, Yissel Santana; Nicolás Núñez, regional director of the Unified System of Beneficiaries (SIUBEN); César Benzán, regional director of the National Health Service (SNS), and Yokarki Ramírez and Tania Marxlenni Montero, administrator and manager of the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa).

Also present were Juan Antonio Alcántara, director of the Eva María Pellerano Educational Center; Ramón Santana Méndez and Tomás Antonio Mejía, directors of the Civil Defense in the municipalities of Bánica and Pedro Santana; as well as other local authorities and representatives of the institutions.

The General Directorate for Community Development announced that this type of initiative responds to its commitment to work together with communities and public institutions to identify needs and promote solutions that contribute to the integral development of the territories, as ordered by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
