Arrest made in connection with 2023 accident that left one dead on the Monte Negro straight, in SFM

San Francisco de Macorís. — A man identified as Jorge Ramón Salas was arrested, accused of being responsible for a traffic accident that occurred in 2023 on the Monte Negro straight, where Juan Antonio Liranzo Hiciano lost his life. The deceased’s wife, Ramona Agustina Ureña Pérez, explained that the accused had allegedly hit her husband while intoxicated and that he left the country that same day, remaining a fugitive since then. For his part, Ramón Antonio Pimentel, an employee of the deceased and who was also injured, reported that while they were traveling on the road, Salas made a reckless overtaking maneuver that caused the accident. He also indicated that the aforementioned returned to the country on at least three occasions after the event.

The accused was captured last night while he was in an establishment selling alcoholic beverages in this city. The victim’s family hopes that justice will be served.
