Santo Domingo.– Dr. Jorge Asjana David, candidate and virtual winner for the rectorship of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) for the 2026-2030 period, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting a profound institutional transformation based on decentralization, internationalization, and the modernization of the state academy.
During an interview granted to the television program Revista 110, the leader of the Gran Alianza Nacional Asjana Rector asserted that the UASD is called to initiate a new stage of strengthening and development to respond more effectively to the challenges of higher education and the demands of an increasingly dynamic and competitive society.
“The UASD has the talent, the history, and the strength to take a qualitative leap that places it at the level of the great changes the country is experiencing”, he expressed.
Asjana also maintained that “the time has come to unify the UASD with a management plan for the modernization, internationalization, and decentralization of the First University of America”.

He explained that one of the fundamental pillars of his eventual administration will be the decentralization of university services and processes, with the purpose of bringing the institution closer to the needs of students, faculty, and administrative staff throughout the national territory. In that sense, he indicated that his proposal contemplates strengthening university campuses, centers, and sub-centers, providing them with greater operational and management capabilities.

Regarding internationalization, he stated that he will promote strategic alliances with universities, research centers, and multilateral organizations to expand opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and student mobility.
“We want a UASD connected to the world, a generator of knowledge and a protagonist in major international academic debates”, he stated.
The candidate for rector highlighted that technological modernization will be another transversal axis of his administration, through the digitalization of services, the automation of processes, and the incorporation of innovative tools that allow for increasing institutional efficiency and improving the experience of the entire university community.

During the interview, the academic highlighted the support he has received from professors, students, and employees, attributing it to the trust placed in a proposal based on experience, managerial capacity, and a shared vision of the future for the oldest university in the New World.
The university elections, scheduled for next Wednesday, find Jorge Asjana David as the main favorite to reach the rectory, with support exceeding 70%, according to various university sectors. Given this scenario, he called on the UASD community to go massively to the polls to support a project he defined as an opportunity to build a more modern, stronger UASD, more committed to the development of the Dominican Republic.
