Banreservas Volunteering benefits hundreds of people in the ”Vida para el Ozama” program’s day
Santo Domingo. – The Banreservas Volunteer Program carried out a massive day of the “Vida para el Ozama” program, in which more than 1,000 residents of communities near the Ozama River benefited from the exchange of food rations from the basic basket in exchange for bags full of plastics.
The activity was led by Dr. Carmen Alicia Quijano de Aguilera, president of the Banreservas Volunteer Program. During the day, 695 food rations were delivered and 7,840 pounds of plastic were collected, reaffirming the social and environmental work promoted by this initiative.
The operation took place in the El Dique sector, as part of the Volunteer’s efforts to promote sustainable practices and offer direct support to families in the area.
Dr. Quijano de Aguilera toured the surroundings with Bishop Manuel Ruiz, founder of Movearte, with whom she identified new collaboration opportunities. She also visited the project’s spaces, built from
from containers and recycled materials, and shared the vision of continuing to strengthen this community work. The president of the Volunteer Group highlighted the importance of continuing to support Movearte and maintaining the program’s presence in El Dique. “This project not only contributes to protecting our natural resources, but also improves the quality of life of the residents of this community,” she expressed.
With 12 years of execution, “Vida para el Ozama” has impacted thousands of people and has managed to collect more than seven million pounds of plastic, consolidating itself as one of the most relevant social and environmental initiatives in the country.
