Santiago.- Faced with the increase in violence, selfishness, and the loss of values, the bishop of the Diocese of San Pedro de Macorís, Monsignor Santiago Rodríguez, stated this Friday that the greatest work of charity a person can perform is to teach others to love God, considering that only through spiritual formation is it possible to transform society and build a coexistence based on respect and solidarity.
While presiding over the homily for the 2026 Santiago Apóstol el Mayor Patronal Festivities, the prelate maintained that educating in the faith means forming citizens capable of loving their neighbor and facing the realities that strike society today.
“The greatest work of charity we can do in our lives is to teach someone to love God, because in that way they will also learn to love their brothers and sisters,” the bishop expressed.

Rodríguez lamented that violence, hatred, selfishness, disorder, and disillusionment continue to affect families and communities, but insisted that none of those circumstances should extinguish hope or stop the mission of educating in values.
