Santo Domingo.– The Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, highlighted that the prevention of gender-based violence requires the active commitment of communities, families, and support networks, considering that the timely identification of warning signs and support for victims are fundamental to addressing this issue.
Reyes explained that the fight against gender-based violence involves joint work between State institutions and society, because it is a complex social phenomenon that requires permanent actions of prevention, education, and awareness.
The official pointed out that the Government maintains coordinated efforts through the Ministry of Women, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Interior and Police, and the Judiciary, with initiatives aimed at strengthening the care, protection, and prevention of violence cases.
Likewise, he indicated that families and communities have an essential role in detecting risk situations and in creating support environments that allow victims to seek help in a timely manner.
The minister acknowledged that progress in this area requires time, because it involves cultural transformations and changes in behavioral patterns deeply rooted in society.
