Puerto Plata. – The lawyer Santos Willy Liriano, legal representative of the family of the girl Brianna Genao Rosario, denounced that during the investigative process for the death of the minor, physical aggressions and improper treatment would have occurred against several people detained or interrogated by the authorities, without there being a clear formal accusation from the Public Ministry to date.
Liriano assured that he has received information from prosecutors in Puerto Plata who are not directly part of the investigative team, who would have intervened to prevent the alleged abuses against some of those involved in the case from continuing, which has generated deep consternation in the province. Among the affected people, the jurist mentioned Nicolás, the minor’s third cousin, who was allegedly beaten during an interrogation, to the point of requiring medical attention. According to him, the young man had to be transferred to the municipal hospital of Imbert, where the lawyer himself claimed to have left him admitted in the morning. You can also read: Firefighters from Buena Vista cry out for an ambulance in the face of the authorities’ silence
The legal representative warned that these practices, if proven, violate fundamental rights and could compromise the validity of any procedural action related to the investigation. “Justice cannot be sought by committing abuses,” he maintained. In that sense, he called on the Public Ministry to transparently clarify the course of the investigation and to guarantee that all proceedings are carried out in accordance with the law and due process, both for the victims and for the people who have been arrested or interrogated. The case of the girl Brianna Genao Rosario remains under investigation and has kept the community of Puerto Plata in suspense, which continues to await clear answers and concrete actions from the authorities.
