Santiago. – The Cibao Pickleball Cup established itself as one of the most important pickleball sporting events in the Dominican Republic, bringing together more than 200 registered players from different areas of the country during its first edition, held from February 6 to 8 at the Teniclub facilities.
The event was organized by a team committed to the development of pickleball in the country, made up of Luis Veras, Juan Osvaldo Suárez, Quilvio Hernández, Mirtha De Marchena, Yhammina Dickson, Yannel Dickson and Carolina Viñas, who worked in a coordinated manner to ensure a high-level sporting experience.
During the opening ceremony, Elvis Duarte, President of the Dominican Pickleball Federation, and Mr. Julio César Martínez, President of the Pickleball Association, were present, who highlighted the importance of these types of initiatives for the strengthening and growth of pickleball at the national level.
The tournament brought together athletes and enthusiasts from Sosúa, Las Terrenas, Punta Cana, Santiago and Santo Domingo, reflecting the national scope of this discipline. 18 divisions were contested, both male and female, as well as a team modality, with the registration of five teams, which added dynamism and excitement to the competition. As part of the sports incentives, more than USD 3,000 in prizes were distributed to the winners.
The Cibao Pickleball Cup’s main objective was to promote the growth of pickleball in the Dominican Republic, encourage competitive sport, and create a memorable experience for players, brands, and spectators.
With outstanding organization and an excellent response from the sports community, the Cibao Pickleball Cup marks a firm step in the development of pickleball in the Dominican Republic, laying the groundwork for future editions that continue to raise the level and projection of this sport in the country.
