Santo Domingo.– With the participation of more than 175 pregnant women, the second edition of Zumba Panza Fit was celebrated, an initiative that seeks to promote conscious physical activity and integral well-being during pregnancy. The event, organized by coach Michael Gómez and held in the Plaza Central event hall, arises in response to the lack of spaces dedicated exclusively to pregnant women. “It arises from the need to create activities designed for them, where they can move, learn and enjoy safely,” she explained. Gómez highlighted that the proposal goes beyond physical exercise, integrating educational talks on prenatal health and culminating with live artistic presentations, becoming a complete experience for the attendees.

During the day, the participants performed dance routines adapted to their condition, promoting benefits such as physical strengthening, better preparation for childbirth, and a more favorable postpartum recovery. Likewise, the organizer urged pregnant women to stay active: “It doesn’t matter if you’re pregnant; the important thing is to move consciously and understand the benefits of exercise at this stage.” The attendees positively valued the activity. Erika, five months pregnant with twins, highlighted that these spaces help to “clear the mind, enjoy, and break the taboos that pregnant women should remain inactive.” Another participant expressed that initiatives like this contribute to breaking down misconceptions about pregnancy, promoting a culture of movement and health. They agreed that Zumba during pregnancy provides energy, improves mood, and can positively influence the labor process. “I loved the experience, it was very good and I recommend it to all pregnant women. I see as a benefit that it can help the baby, also facilitate childbirth and contribute to the woman having more energy, encouragement and joy”, added another of the pregnant women, identified as Yoemi Morales. The second edition of Zumba Panza Fit reaffirms the importance of creating spaces for support, education, and physical activity for pregnant women, promoting a healthier and more active motherhood.
