Barahona, DR. The General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC) and the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), in coordination with the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), carried out a medical and social assistance day in the Los Solares de Milton neighborhood, in Villa Central, Barahona, where hundreds of vulnerable citizens benefited.
The initiative is part of the Community Route program, promoted by the DGDC to comprehensively address the priority needs of the most vulnerable communities.
The operation was supervised by the head of the General Directorate for Community Development, Dr. Modesto Guzmán, and the Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, who explained that these targeted interventions, aimed at resolving immediate problems, represent the Dominican Government’s commitment to continue bringing solutions to residents in different communities.
“Those of us entrusted to work with community issues must always be close to the most vulnerable, and this is one more action we are taking here in this community with an impact on the province of Barahona,” highlighted the Director General of Community Development, adding that these are the directives of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
Meanwhile, the governor of Barahona, Oneida Félix, expressed “eternal gratitude for accompanying these vulnerable communities, not only with this operation, but for all the time they have been working in the province.”

The day included general clinical, family, ophthalmological, dermatological, pediatric, urological, cardiological, orthopedic, and dental evaluations; blood pressure measurement; in addition to the delivery of household appliances, layettes, mosquito nets, food rations, and toys for children; barber services were also offered to the residents.
