Santiago.- Residents of the Los Llanos del Ingenio II sector, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district, held a protest this Tuesday night to demand the paving of their streets and the resolution of other community issues that, as they reported, have gone years without receiving a response from the authorities.
As a pressure tactic, protesters set fire to a tire on one of the main roads in the area to draw the attention of the central government and local authorities, demanding urgent intervention due to the precarious conditions in which they claim hundreds of families are living.
Community members explained that the deterioration of the streets hinders the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, a situation that worsens during rains due to the poor condition of their streets
They also demanded improvements in the drinking water service in the area.

Likewise, they denounced that they have submitted their claims on multiple occasions without obtaining concrete solutions, which is why they decided to take to the streets to demand immediate answers.
During the protest, which was guarded by police officers, they expressed their discontent with the mayor of the Santiago Oeste municipal district, Eddy Báez, whom they accused of failing to keep the promise to intervene in the sector’s streets, despite the commitments made to the community.
The protesters called on the central government, the Ministry of Public Works, and municipal authorities to execute a comprehensive plan that includes the paving of roads, the improvement of drinking water service, and attention to the other needs affecting the sector.
They warned that, if they do not receive a response in the short term, they will continue to hold days of protest until their demands are met.
