San Francisco de Macorís. – The
National Disability Council (Conadis) held a
social inclusion day in the municipality of
San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province, with the aim of
bringing health services, guidance and assistance to people with disabilities and their families, promoting access to
rights and opportunities for this important sector of the population.
During the day, various health and social assistance services were offered to the population, including consultations in general medicine, pediatrics, and cardiology, as well as specialized studies such as mammograms and sonomammograms. In addition, care was provided in ophthalmology and dentistry, vaccination campaigns, delivery of medications and support devices, as well as processes for the assessment and registration of disability, with the purpose of facilitating access to the benefits and programs promoted by the Dominican State for people with disabilities.
The president of Conadis,
Benny Eurípides Metz Muñoz, valued the support of local authorities and allied institutions to make this type of initiative possible.
“Inclusion is a shared responsibility. When institutions work in a coordinated manner, we manage to bring more opportunities, services, and hope to people with disabilities and their families. From Conadis we continue to work so that people with disabilities receive dignified and timely care. These days allow us to get closer to the communities, identify their needs and offer concrete solutions that contribute to improving their quality of life,” Metz affirmed.
Important authorities from the Duarte province also participated in the activity, including Senator Franklin Romero, who highlighted the importance of these actions to strengthen social inclusion in the region. “This type of initiative represents great support for people with disabilities in our province, because they bring essential services closer and promote a more just and inclusive society”, the legislator indicated.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís,
Alex Díaz, valued the realization of the activity in the demarcation and highlighted the
positive impact it generates in the community.
“From the city council we support all initiatives that promote the inclusion and well-being of our people, especially those who need it most,” he expressed.
Similarly, the executive director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indrhi),
engineer Olmedo Caba Romano, who is a native of this province, valued the realization of this type of actions aimed at
strengthening social well-being and development of the communities, highlighting the importance of promoting inter-institutional efforts that contribute to guaranteeing
inclusion, equity and respect for the rights of people with disabilities in the Dominican Republic.
On behalf of the Francomacorisana community, Mr.
Brunette de la Rosa, a person with a physical-motor disability, expressed his gratitude to Conadis for the support provided and for the actions that the institution promotes
in favor of inclusion and well-being of people with disabilities, highlighting the positive impact of these initiatives in strengthening policies and programs that promote a
more equitable and accessible society for all.
The day was supported by various allied institutions, including the Provincial Health Directorate, the Senatorial Office of Duarte province, the Provincial Government, the National Council for the Elderly (Conape), the Ministry of Education (Minerd), the National Health Service (SNS), the Social Assistance Directorate of the Presidency (Dasac), the Supérate program, the Information and Defense of Affiliates to Social Security (DIDA), MIO Banreservas, Senasa, Promese/CAL and Farma Value, which contributed with services and logistical support for the development of the activity.
