CONADIS and institutions sign management agreement to strengthen the inclusion of people with disabilities

Santo Domingo.– The National Council for Disability (CONADIS) signed a management agreement with the Non-Profit Associations Special Olympics of the Dominican Republic and the Yo También Puedo Foundation, with the aim of coordinating efforts in favor of the integral development and inclusion of people with disabilities in the country. represented by its CEO, Guillermo Enrique Álvarez García-Godoy, and the Yo También Puedo Foundation, represented by its president, María Esperanza Hache Handal, The management agreements signed between the sectoral bodies of the State and Non-Profit Associations (ASFL) constitute formal and legally binding instruments, of strategic scope and long-term, aimed at the provision of public services and the execution of projects of common interest. These agreements clearly establish the objectives, performance indicators, allocated resources, and the mechanisms for monitoring, follow-up, and evaluation of the agreed actions, with the purpose of strengthening the efficiency, transparency, and impact of public policies for the benefit of the citizenry. The president of the National Disability Council, Benny Metz, highlighted the importance of this strategic alliance to ensure comprehensive and sustained care for the population with disabilities.

“This agreement reaffirms our commitment to work in an articulated manner with the ASFL to strengthen policies and actions that promote inclusion, autonomy and the full exercise of the rights of people with disabilities, from childhood to adulthood”, he expressed.

For his part, the executive director of CONADIS, Alexis Alcántara, highlighted that this agreement represents a key step to strengthen public management in matters of disability.

“From CONADIS we continue to promote strategic alliances that allow us to articulate efforts, optimize resources and bring concrete answers to people with disabilities and their families. This agreement with Special Olympics of the Dominican Republic and the Yo También Puedo Foundation reaffirms our commitment to promote inclusive policies and sustainable actions that positively impact the quality of life of this population throughout the national territory”, he stated.

The technical director of CONADIS, Katherine Rodríguez, emphasized the technical and operational value of the agreement for the effective implementation of inclusive actions.

“These agreements allow us to strengthen the planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes of initiatives aimed at people with disabilities, ensuring comprehensive, sustainable interventions aligned with national public policies, with a focus on the rights and full development of this population,” he indicated.

Similarly, the executive director of Special Olympics of the Dominican Republic, Guillermo Enrique Álvarez García-Godoy, valued the scope of the agreement. “This alliance with CONADIS strengthens our work in favor of a more just and inclusive society, allowing us to expand the impact of our programs and generate greater opportunities for development and participation for people with disabilities,” he affirmed. Meanwhile, the president of the Yo También Puedo Foundation, María Esperanza Hache Handal, highlighted the relevance of inter-institutional collaboration. “This cooperation with CONADIS will allow us to strengthen our initiatives and reach people with disabilities more effectively, promoting their autonomy, inclusion, and full participation in society,” she said. The agreements contemplate awareness-raising actions on disability; the implementation of inclusive strategies for educational and operational care; the development of a school for parents oriented towards well-being, care, and stimulation for integral development; the training of volunteers and coaches in adapted sports; the training of community-based organizations in inclusion; and the realization of inclusive sports tournaments, among other initiatives.
