Copa Airlines announces special flights from Panama to Canada and the USA for the 2026 World Cup

Panama.- Copa Airlines announced this Wednesday that it will put on sale the first batch of 30 special flights with attractive fares to Toronto (Canada) and New York (United States), so that Panamanians can accompany the national team in their matches of the 2026 World Cup. The airline indicated in a statement that the flights, scheduled according to the match dates, with round-trip itineraries designed especially for fans, will go on sale this Thursday, February 5. The fare for these flights will be $679 round trip in economy class, which includes a checked bag, pre-selection of a seat in economy class, the possibility of changing the date free of charge up to 7 days before the original departure, and all taxes included, indicates a statement from the airline. Add that said fare will be available until March 5, 2026, or until the seat capacity on special flights is exhausted. Similarly, the information explains that “as these first flights fill up, Copa Airlines will open additional flights for sale until reaching the 30 flights approved in the agreement between the aviation authorities of Canada and Panama”.

Copa Airlines President Pedro Heilbron filed a request last December 16 for more than “sixty additional flights between Panama and Toronto to meet the expected demand during an approximate period of ten to fourteen days“, as he told EFE. Heilbron estimates that with 60 flights, approximately 8,400 people can be transported to Toronto, as it is believed that Panama would receive that number of tickets for those two matches, which would equate, he said, to 10 percent of the stadium’s capacity.
