Santo Domingo.- COVID-19 continues to be the respiratory virus with the greatest presence in the Dominican Republic, according to the most recent data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance System (Sinave), which maintains SARS-CoV-2 as the main agent detected among the respiratory infections monitored in the country.
The report, corresponding to epidemiological week 25, covering June 21 to June 27, indicates that the virus’s behavior remains at levels similar to those recorded during the same period in 2025.
Health authorities explain that the information comes from virological surveillance carried out at sentinel sites, used to monitor the circulation of respiratory viruses and timely detect possible changes in their behavior.

The bulletin also points out that permanent monitoring allows for the evaluation of the evolution of respiratory diseases and the strengthening of prevention and response actions in the face of potential increases in cases.
Health authorities urge the population to maintain preventive measures, especially for people at higher risk of complications, and to go to health centers in case of presenting persistent respiratory symptoms.
