The Cuban Foreign Ministry confirmed that the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will make an official visit to Havana this Friday, amidst the difficult situation the Caribbean country is going through, aggravated by the blockade imposed by the U.S. on the island.
“The President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Cuba from July 31 to August 1, in response to the invitation extended by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel,” the announcement reads.

“Cuba and Colombia maintain close ties of friendship, based on mutual respect and cooperation in various fields, in the interest of strengthening bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries and peoples. The official visit will constitute an opportunity to reaffirm the common commitment to Latin American and Caribbean integration, peace, multilateralism, and sustainable development,” it adds.
