Santo Domingo.– The Director of Government Strategy and Communication (DIECOM), Félix Reyna, assured that President Luis Abinader will maintain his weekly meetings with press representatives, as part of the policy of closeness and openness with the media that, he affirmed, has characterized the president.
Reyna explained that Abinader began a new format of meetings with media representatives this Wednesday, during which he answered questions and concerns raised by journalists.
As indicated, these meetings will be held regularly every week with the purpose of strengthening the head of State’s interaction with the press and, through it, responding to issues of interest to Dominican society.
Explain the objective of the Weekly Agenda
The official also referred to the launch of the Weekly Agenda, an initiative that began last Monday and which includes the broadcast of meetings of the Government’s various working cabinets.

Reyna pointed out that the goal is to allow citizens to observe the Government’s work dynamics under President Abinader’s leadership and to learn how the authorities address the problems that affect the population.
He specified that, although these are working meetings with certain government cabinets, there is interest in having invited journalists and communicators participate, who will be able to observe the development of the meetings, ask questions, and make contributions regarding the matters discussed.
Highlight openness to the media
Reyna, who recalled her decades-long experience as a journalist covering the National Palace beat during different administrations, maintained that Abinader has been characterized by maintaining an open and close relationship with communication professionals.

The director of DIECOM also highlighted the recognition that, as he pointed out, the president has received regarding respect for public freedoms and mentioned the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) among the organizations that have valued his position in that area.
In that sense, Reyna considered that the ruler’s willingness to maintain contact with the media constitutes a guarantee to continue strengthening freedom of the press and democracy in the Dominican Republic.
