Madrid, Spain.- The Dominican writer and poet Osiris Madera was awarded the 2026 Escriduende Prize in the Best Latin American Novel category for his work Glenna and Maria meet, during a ceremony held within the framework of the Madrid Book Fair.
The recognition was presented by the ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain, Tony Raful, in a ceremony held at the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center, located in El Retiro Park, where one of the most important literary events in the Spanish capital is taking place.
Upon receiving the award, Madera expressed his gratitude for the distinction and highlighted that his novel becomes the third work by a Dominican author to receive an international award of this nature.

The writer recalled that previously, Dominican authors Pedro Vergés and Marcio Veloz Maggiolo were recognized with the Blasco Ibáñez and José María Arguedas international awards, respectively.
Likewise, he highlighted the contribution of Dominican literature to the Hispanic-American and international sphere, while thanking the Sial Pigmalión Publishing Group for the support provided to various writers in the country.
