Donald Trump claimed that there are “a thousand missiles ready” to “completely” destroy Iran if the regime assassinates him

Washington.– U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday night that the United States will completely destroy the Islamic Republic of Iran if it attempts or succeeds in assassinating the sitting occupant of the White House.

“A thousand missiles are ready to be loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, and thousands more will follow immediately if the Iranian Government fulfills its threat, uttered in many corners of the world, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the current President of the United States of America, in this case, Me!”, wrote Trump on his social media platform Truth Social.

And he added: “The orders have already been given, and the U.S. Army is prepared, willing, and capable, for a period of one year, renewable, to decimate and completely destroy all areas of Iran.”

Trump’s warning to the Tehran regime came after it was revealed that Israel shared intelligence with the United States regarding an alleged new Iranian plot to assassinate the U.S. president, as reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The report notes that the alert described an unfolding plot, although it does not specify when it was transmitted or through what channel.

The threat is part of a sequence that began in 2020, when Iran publicly vowed to kill Trump following the death of General Qassem Soleimani, head of the Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Force, in a U.S. operation. According to the newspaper, those calls continued during the recent ceremonies for the burial of the former Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Two U.S. officials told Channel 12 that the information did not point to a concrete plot, but rather to general conversations among Iranian leaders about the possibility of assassinating the president-elect. These officials estimated that Israel provided the material in an attempt to strengthen the relationship between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump, as well as to influence Washington’s policy toward Iran.

One of the officials indicated that the Israeli government had already shared similar information in the last year regarding alleged plans by Iran and allied terrorist groups. The difference between the version attributed to Israeli intelligence and the interpretation of U.S. authorities left open the question of whether there was a specific operational threat or just a general warning.

In statements this week, the American head of state referred to the risks against his life: “I’m on every list. I saw this morning that I’m on every one of their lists. And so far, I guess, I’ve been a little lucky, but maybe that won’t last long.” The president has already faced several assassination attempts, including the 2024 shooting in which a bullet grazed his ear.

Regarding the tension between Tehran and Washington following the latest military escalation in the Middle East, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, criticized U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent this Saturday, accusing him of “violating” the memorandum of understanding signed between both countries on June 17.

“Iran has so far kept its word, unlike the so-called US Treasury Secretary, who is violating paragraph 9 of the Memorandum of Understanding. This violation follows other violations and errors by the United States. A dose of reality: There can only be mutual compliance,” Araghchi expressed through his social media.

Paragraph nine of the pre-agreement states that, “pending a definitive agreement,” the United States and Iran commit to “maintaining the status quo” of the Islamic Republic, which implies that the White House “will not impose new sanctions or deploy additional forces in the region.”

Araghchi’s criticism comes after the U.S. government included Ali Ansari on its sanctions list, considered a “key sponsor” of Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, even though Article 9 of the memorandum limits Washington’s ability to sanction Tehran.
