Edeeste restores electricity service in Miches after violent demonstrations

At the time of the demonstrations, the company was correcting a breakdown that had been affecting the area for an hour beforehand. Miches.- The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) reported this Sunday that it managed to restore the electricity service in the Magua area, on the Miches – Sabana de la Mar highway, after it was interrupted due to violent demonstrations that caused severe damage to the electrical infrastructure. During the riots recorded on Saturday night, several trees were felled, not only negatively impacting the environment, but also affecting electrical poles and several sections of medium voltage lines, leaving sectors of the community without power. Edeeste’s technical brigades attempted to access the affected area immediately to begin repair work; however, the protesters prevented the entry of the teams, delaying the restoration of service.

At the time of the events, the company was correcting a specific fault in the area, which was being attended to when the demonstration occurred.
As a result of the protest, approximately 500 meters of three-phase lines were affected, 9 broken crossarms were recorded, and several overhead lines were brought down, which aggravated the damage to the local electrical grid. Edeeste highlighted that, prior to the demonstration, it had already been intervening in the area for approximately a month with pruning, preventive and corrective maintenance work, as part of its commitment to the continuous improvement of service in the region. The company also emphasized that this area has a loss level close to 80%, due to a high proportion of irregularly connected users, which represents a technical and operational challenge for the sustainability of the electricity supply. Edeeste reiterated its commitment to the continuity and quality of service, while calling on citizens to avoid actions that put at risk the safety of communities, technical personnel and service infrastructures.
