La Vega.-The death of 35-year-old Mayki Abram Gil at the hands of National Police agents has sparked outrage in the Hatico sector, where the victim’s relatives denounce that it was an extrajudicial execution and not an exchange of gunfire, as the authorities maintain.
Visibly affected, Santos García, father of the deceased, asserted that his son was killed inside a home after approaching the officers without offering any resistance.
“My son raised his hand and they executed him immediately. They started shooting at him right there. That claim by the Police about an exchange of gunfire is a lie,” stated Garcia, while demanding an independent investigation into the case.
The family maintains that a security camera captured what happened and that the footage contradicts the official version. According to their statements, the video would prove that Abram Gil did not confront the officers nor did he take any action that would justify the use of lethal force.

The relatives also reported that, after the incident, police officers returned to the scene and removed several pieces of evidence, a situation that has increased suspicions and the demand for transparency regarding the actions of the uniformed officers.
The death of the young man, who worked as a tire repairman, has caused consternation among family, friends, and residents of Hatico, who demand that the case does not go unpunished and that responsibilities be determined.
While the Police maintain the version that the death occurred during an alleged armed confrontation, the relatives insist that it was an execution and state that the surveillance camera recordings will be decisive in clarifying the facts.
