Santo Domingo.- A father identified as Yaniel Esteban de León Encarnación publicly reported that for approximately five months he has not been able to see his almost three-year-old son, after, as he claims, the minor was withheld by his maternal grandmother following the child’s mother’s passing.
According to the testimony provided to De Último Minuto, the complainant explained that the minor’s mother, Eliza Mercedes Castillo Pimentel, passed away on January 25, 2026. Following the family tragedy, the child remained in the care of maternal relatives, but subsequently, according to the father, the maternal grandmother, Yocelin Pimentel Mancebo, refused to return the minor to him.
“I am the father of a child whose mother passed away approximately five months ago. The child was illegally abducted by his grandmother,” stated De León Encarnación during his report.
The complainant stated that on several occasions he has tried to resolve the conflict amicably with the maternal grandmother, but claims that he has not obtained positive results.
“I have spoken with the lady amicably, but I have not been able to reach any kind of agreement with her. I have also resorted to all the appropriate means through the justice system and I have not had a response either,” he stated.

Likewise, he indicated that he has exhausted various legal processes both in the province of Azua and in San José de Ocoa, the place where the child is allegedly located, without having achieved a solution so far.
According to his account, he even traveled recently to San José de Ocoa with the intention of obtaining information about the minor, but he stated that he could not approach the child and that the situation ended with the intervention of police officers.
Documents provided by the father show a formal complaint filed with the Office of the Prosecutor for Children and Adolescents of the Judicial District of San José de Ocoa, through which he reports the alleged abduction, illegal detention, and concealment of the minor.

In the legal instance, De León Encarnación maintains that since the child’s birth, he had exercised his care and custody. Furthermore, he points out that after the mother’s passing, he temporarily took the minor to the residence of maternal relatives in the community of Sajanoa.
The father called on the authorities to intervene urgently in the case and allow him to reunite with his son, assuring that his only interest is to guarantee the minor’s well-being and development.
