Flights between the Dominican Republic and Haiti will resume starting May 30th

Santo Domingo.– The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) announced that as of May 30th, air connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Haiti will be re-established, ending more than two years of suspension of commercial flights between both nations. The information was provided by the president of the JAC, Héctor Porcella, who explained that the reopening of the airspace is part of the agreements reached between the authorities of both countries to resume operations gradually and under strict safety protocols. The measure will allow the restoration of flights between Dominican airports and the Cap-Haitien International Airport, again facilitating the transportation of passengers and strengthening commercial and economic exchanges between both nations.

The reopening was initially scheduled for May 1st, but was postponed while the security and coordination mechanisms between the aeronautical institutions of the two countries were completed. Air operations between the Dominican Republic and Haiti have remained suspended since March 2024, when the Dominican authorities decided to close the airspace due to the deterioration of the security situation in the neighboring country. With the resumption of flights, both governments seek to strengthen bilateral communication, boost trade, and facilitate the mobility of citizens who maintain family, work, and commercial ties between the two territories.
