Santo Domingo D.N. — The Fuerza del Pueblo party offered this Thursday the final details about the March of the People, convened for this coming Sunday, November 30, a citizen protest mobilization that will tour the northern zone of the National District.
The activity will start from the intersection of Albert Thomas with Nicolás de Ovando and will conclude on Mexico Avenue corner Duarte, where the president of the organization, Leonel Fernández, will give a speech as is customary in this type of demonstration.
The press conference was held jointly by national and local leaders of the organization, including members of the Political Directorate, the Central Directorate, legislators, councilors, provincial and municipal presidents, as well as representatives from various provinces who came to support the call.
During the meeting with the media, Rafael Paz, president of the Fuerza del Pueblo in the National District and member of the Political Directorate, who in those conditions led the press conference, offered an intervention that set the tone for the day. Paz reiterated that the call responds to the weariness and urgencies of the Dominican people, stating that “this is not a march of a party, but a march of all the Dominican people, of the people who are tired and demand answers”.
In his statement, Paz also reacted to statements by the President of the Republic about “dressing up for Christmas”, using a historical metaphor to highlight the dignity of the Dominican people. He recalled that, as happened with the Fuerte de la Navidad, “everything that is built behind the people ends up reduced to nothing”, denouncing that the country is fed up with blackouts, debt, insecurity and excuses. He assured that the march will be an expression of citizen determination “like Caonabo and Cayacoa, with their heads held high and without disguise”.

He also ironically thanked the president for “the inspiration,” emphasizing that the march will be dressed in green hope.
In that same order, spokesman for the block of deputies of the Fuerza del Pueblo, Rafael Castillo, explained the route of the march, specifying that it will begin at 10:00 in the morning at Nicolás de Ovando corner Albert Thomas. He indicated that the route will continue straight on Nicolás de Ovando; it will turn right onto Mutualísimo street (street 10) and proceed along the same road; it will turn right again onto María Viuda de la Cruz street (Doña Chucha); it will continue to Juan Pablo Duarte avenue; and from there it will move in a straight line until reaching México avenue, where the demonstration will conclude.
The route will cover the sectors La Zurza, Simón Bolívar, Ensanche Capotillo, Villas Agrícolas, Villa Juana, Consuelo, Mejoramiento Social, and will end between San Carlos and Villa Francisca.

In the meeting with the media, political leader Ana García, a member of the Political Directorate, also spoke, reiterating that the March of the People is based on legitimate social demands that the population faces daily.
García pointed out that under the PRM administration, public services have suffered a marked deterioration, directly affecting the quality of life of families. He added that the protest responds to the lack of salary indexation established by law, the rising cost of food, the scarcity of drinking water, the high cost of medicines, the problems of insecurity, the non-fulfillment of official promises and the insufficiency of state support for producers and vulnerable communities, among others.
“This is a human march, it’s a march of the people,” affirmed Ana García.
The final presentation was given by Javier Ubiera, technical delegate before the Central Electoral Board, who assured that the Fuerza del Pueblo formally notified the Ministry of Interior and Police of the march, an entity that responded without presenting objections.
“This citizen demonstration has everything legally established to take place,” Ubiera stated.
