Santo Domingo. — The Dominican Government launched the first phase for the preparation of the General State Budget for the year 2027, following the approval of the Annual Budgetary Policy, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, reported this Monday.
The official explained that this step establishes the general guidelines that will guide public spending planning for the next year and will allow for the definition of investment priorities in accordance with national development objectives.
Paliza indicated that the budget proposal will be oriented towards strengthening areas considered strategic, such as education, health, infrastructure, productivity, and institutional strengthening, with the purpose of directing resources towards programs and projects with the greatest impact for the population.
In the education sector, the Government will maintain the allocation equivalent to 4.05% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while in health, it will continue with the execution of hospital works, the strengthening of primary care, social security, and the National Emergency Network.
Likewise, he pointed out that follow-up will be given to social programs aimed at supporting families in vulnerable conditions and those who may be affected by external economic factors.

The minister also highlighted that investment priorities include mobility projects, such as the Santiago Integrated Transport System and the Santo Domingo monorail, as well as works related to aqueducts, sanitation, housing, and infrastructure in different provinces.
Regarding institutional strengthening, Paliza reported that greater resources are contemplated for the Judiciary, citizen security, border surveillance, and the development of technological capabilities for State institutions.
The minister clarified that this approval represents the beginning of the budget formulation process and that subsequently the Government Council will continue with the necessary reviews and stages until the 2027 General State Budget project is completed.
