Bogotá.– The outgoing president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, reiterated this Monday his rejection of the results of the second round of the presidential elections held on June 21, stating that he does not recognize the legitimacy of the government that will assume power on August 7.
Through an extensive message posted on his X account, the president insisted that candidate Abelardo de la Espriella did not obtain victory at the polls and once again denounced alleged fraud during the scrutiny process.
Petro claimed, without presenting evidence, that the election results were altered through the manipulation of algorithms with the purpose of favoring De la Espriella, who was declared the winner of the election with 12.9 million votes.

The ruler stated that, in his view, the true winner of the contest was the philosopher and senator Iván Cepeda, who obtained 12.7 million votes, which is why he questioned the validity of the official results.
