Hearing against Army major linked to death of young man in Los Guandules postponed
Santo Domingo. – The hearing to determine the coercive measure held in the Permanent Attention Court of the National District against the major of the Army of the Dominican Republic, Diego Geraldo Mesa, identified as the main suspect in the death of Perla Yocasta Santos, 19 years old, which occurred in the Los Guandules sector of the National District, was postponed on the morning of Tuesday, January 6th.
The officer was moved to the courtroom as part of the judicial process being carried out by the authorities; however, the knowledge of the measure was postponed to a later date.
The Public Ministry preliminarily classified the event as voluntary homicide, while continuing to deepen investigations to clarify the circumstances in which the event occurred, which has generated consternation among residents of the area and the victim’s family.
According to versions offered by those close to her, the young woman had gotten on a motorcycle with one or more companions, information that has not yet been confirmed by the authorities, as it is unknown how many people were traveling on the motor at the time of the incident.
Hours later, the person who allegedly drove the motorcycle showed up at the young woman’s residence to report what had happened. Subsequently, Jocasta’s body was found on the public road, in circumstances that remain under investigation.
It is recalled that the young woman’s mother appeared on Monday morning at the Courthouse of New City, after the military officer was transferred to the corresponding jurisdiction after being preliminarily linked to the young woman’s death.
