Santo Domingo. The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that during the early hours of this Sunday, good weather conditions will prevail across much of the national territory, with mostly clear skies.

However, for the afternoon, a change in atmospheric conditions is expected due to the influence of a trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere and the day’s own heating, factors that will favor the occurrence of scattered showers, accompanied by possible thunderstorms, in different locations of the country.

The rains will be concentrated mainly in the provinces of Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña and Dajabón.

As night falls, the rainy activity will gradually decrease. However, the agency does not rule out the occurrence of isolated showers in communities near the southern coast, including some sectors of Greater Santo Domingo.

Indomet indicated that the environment will remain hot, so it urged the population to stay well hydrated, wear light-colored and lightweight clothing, remain in cool and ventilated places, and avoid direct exposure to the sun during the hours of greatest intensity, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The institution reminded that children, the elderly, and pregnant women are the groups most vulnerable to high temperatures, so it recommended taking additional precautions to prevent heat stroke.
