Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that this Thursday a mostly sunny and hot environment will predominate over a large part of the national territory, due to the incidence of a high-pressure system that limits the occurrence of significant rainfall.

However, the agency indicated that weak showers could be recorded during the morning hours over provinces of the Caribbean coast and the northeast region, including Samaná, La Altagracia, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal and Gran Santo Domingo.

Indomet explained that, after midday, the rainfall will move towards locations in the center and north of the eastern region, as well as towards areas of the Central mountain range, mainly affecting Monte Plata, San José de Ocoa, Hato Mayor, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña and San Juan. The meteorological entity also warned that the thermal sensation will continue to be quite hot due to the time of year and the influence of the warm southeast wind, so it recommended that the population stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
