San Francisco de Macorís. – A family conflict over the dispute of an inheritance culminated in tragedy on Thursday night in the Naranjo Dulce community, specifically in the El Catey sector, where a retired colonel of the National Police killed his own brother.
The victim was identified as Víctor Asiático José, approximately 70 years old, who died after receiving several shots from his brother, Pablo Asiático José, a retired colonel from the law enforcement institution.
According to preliminary information, both maintained a relationship marked by constant confrontations due to differences related to hereditary property. It was also indicated that Víctor José had recently been in prison, following a complaint filed by his brother, after allegedly attempting to set fire to the house where they resided.
The incident occurred when the deceased showed up at the former officer’s residence and began knocking insistently on the door. Upon going outside to check the situation, the retired colonel was allegedly assaulted with a stick, receiving a strong blow to the head.

Faced with this situation, the former officer reacted by using a firearm, firing several shots that mortally wounded his brother.
Pablo Asiático José is in custody of the authorities while receiving medical attention. Meanwhile, agents of the National Police and representatives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office are conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify the event and determine if it was a case of self-defense.
The case has generated consternation among the residents of the area, who regret that a family conflict has ended in a fatal outcome.
