Former actor and brother of Angelina Jolie, reveals at 53 that he is gay
United States.- James Haven, older brother of actress Angelina Jolie, publicly revealed at 53 years old that he is gay and stated that he made the decision after going through a personal process that allowed him to heal what he described as “the trauma of his childhood”.
The former actor shared the news through the Instagram account of his ex-wife, Romi Imbelli, where he posted photographs with her and a message in which he explained that this moment represents the beginning of a new stage in his life.
“I, James Haven, am starting a new chapter in my life. After many years of healing from childhood trauma, I am now free to live the life I believe I was always meant to live: a life of hope, peace, and love,” he expressed.
During a live broadcast on Imbelli’s Substack account, Jolie’s brother also recalled some aspects of his childhood that, as he explained, made him feel that there was a part of his personality that he could not fully express.

He said that since he was little he felt a particular fascination for Disney princesses, although at that time he did not have the tools to understand or explain why that hobby made him feel identified.
“Since I was a little boy, I was absolutely obsessed with Disney princesses. Back then, I didn’t have the words to explain why. I just knew it made me feel more like myself,” he recounted.
Over the years, he explained, he began to question whether he should hide that part of himself to fit in and be accepted by others.

“I started to wonder if that shine was something I had to hide so that the ‘normal’ kids in my environment would accept me,” she confessed.
Haven noted that for a long time they learned to question aspects of their identity before feeling ready to accept and celebrate them.
“Like so many other young gay people, I learned to question parts of myself long before I learned to celebrate them,” he stated.
Angelina Jolie’s brother also wanted to make it clear that his revelation does not represent a transformation of who he is, but rather a decision to show himself with greater freedom.
“It was never about pretending to be someone else. It was about letting a part of me shine that had always been there,” he/she maintained.
At the end of her message, Haven expressed her wish that her family and those close to her can receive this new stage with love and understanding.
“I hope that my family and others can choose love instead of fear, understanding instead of judgment, and connection instead of the beliefs that may have kept us apart,” she concluded.
