Zahara, the third daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who drops her father’s surname

International Newsroom.- Zahara, daughter of American actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has legally dropped her father’s surname, becoming the third of their six children to officially take that step, reports People magazine.

A California court approved her request on Monday without objection to be called Zahara Marley Jolie instead of Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt.

Angelina Jolie, 51, and Brad Pitt, 62, have six children: Maddox, 25, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18. The couple separated in 2016, after 12 years together and two years of marriage, and finalized their divorce in December 2024.

Shortly after Shiloh changed her name in 2024, a source close to Pitt told People that the actor was aware of the change and was “upset.” “For Brad, of course, it’s not easy to face the memories of having lost his children. He loves them and misses them,” that source noted.

Earlier this month, People added that at the moment “there is very little communication” between Pitt and his children, and described the situation as a “tragedy”.

“It is the result of a prolonged campaign of alienating the children against one of their parents. It is an incredibly sad reality, but it is not surprising after years in which one of the parents has used the children as a weapon against the other, without regard for the consequences,” a source added to the magazine.

The former acting couple, who met on the set of the action movie ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’, were involved in a complicated legal battle during their divorce process.

Child custody was one of the biggest points of friction in the dissolution of the marriage, especially following reports suggesting that the actor’s treatment of them may have been one of the reasons that motivated the actress to file for divorce.

In 2016, the Department of Children and Family Services of Los Angeles County opened an investigation following an alleged incident on the family’s private plane, where Pitt reportedly overstepped verbally and physically with Maddox. The case, according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, was closed that year without finding evidence of abuse.
