Las Terrenas City Hall clarifies suspension of tender for sidewalks and curbs

Las Terrenas, Samaná.– The City Council of the municipality of Las Terrenas reported this Monday that the ex officio suspension of the simplified contracting procedure for the construction of the second stage of sidewalks and curbs is in response to a technical and administrative review process, and assured that there are no irregularities or evidence of mismanagement of public resources related to the project.

Through an official statement, the city council explained that the measure affects the simplified contracting procedure AYTO. TERRENAS-CCC-CP-2026-0004, which is currently in the evaluation phase for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement Law and its implementing regulations.

The institution specified that the suspension was issued after procedural observations were identified during a preventive monitoring process, mainly related to the need to make documentary adjustments and complete supporting evidence within the administrative file.

In that sense, he clarified that the observations correspond to technical and administrative aspects that must be corrected before continuing with the contracting process.

The City Council emphasized that there is no illicit information, willful irregularity, or evidence of improper use of public resources, noting that the detected observations are limited to documents that were not incorporated into the file in a timely manner and to other technical aspects that need to be corrected.

Likewise, he reported that he is already making the necessary corrections to regularize the procedure and allow its evaluation to continue in accordance with the provisions established in current legislation.

The municipal administration reiterated its commitment to transparency, legality, and the proper management of administrative processes, highlighting that the review seeks to strengthen citizen trust and ensure that each stage of the procedure is carried out in compliance with regulations.

Finally, the City Council of Las Terrenas thanked the citizens, the bidders, and the other stakeholders involved for their understanding, while reaffirming its commitment to continue promoting infrastructure projects that contribute to the development and well-being of the municipality.
