Blanco Arriba, Tenares– Residents of the La Jíbara community held a peaceful march to demand that authorities build streets, sidewalks, and curbs, asserting that they have been waiting for more than six decades for this need to be addressed.
The demonstration took place on Lindo Vargas Street, a road that leads to the local cemetery and which, according to community members, is in deplorable condition, making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to pass.
During the protest, the residents made an appeal to President Luis Abinader, the province’s senator, Mercedes Ortiz, and the mayor of the Blanco Arriba municipal district, Alexis Inoa, to urgently intervene in the community.
The protesters denounced that the authorities have carried out asphalt work in other sectors, while La Jíbara continues to wait for a solution, despite the fact that, as they claim, they have been demanding these works for more than 60 years.

Likewise, they insisted that the paving of Lindo Vargas Street is a priority as it is the access road to the community cemetery. In that sense, they requested that the work also include the construction of sidewalks and curbs, with the purpose of improving mobility and the quality of life for residents.
