Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will advance this Monday on a cooperation agenda with his Mozambican counterpart, Daniel Chapo, which includes humanitarian assistance, health, education, food security, agriculture, biofuels, defense, trade, and investment.
“As in matters of the international agenda, such as the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), the fight against poverty and climate change,” announced Lula after his arrival in the African country.
Lula emphasized that this tour coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Mozambique, an anniversary he celebrates with “more work” and a renewed commitment to strengthen the bilateral partnership.

Among the priority topics for future cooperation is the transfer of agricultural technology, taking advantage of Brazilian experience in improved seeds, irrigation and irrigation, at a time when Brazil and Mozambique are studying an integrated development program.
In addition, a business forum is planned in Maputo – the capital of Mozambique – with entrepreneurs from both countries to explore investment opportunities and partnerships in productive development.
Lula also projected broad academic and professional training cooperation, and part of his agenda includes meetings with the Mozambican private sector to promote investments in health, sustainable agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises, urban planning, and transportation.
Another key point will be collaboration on a shared international agenda, where both leaders will seek to reinforce Brazil’s role as a strategic ally on the African continent.
“We, in Mozambique, still have the challenge of food security. We know very well that our brother country Brazil went through that, but today Brazil went from an importing country to an exporting country and we want that experience,” Chapo expressed in his speech alongside Lula.
“The focus we intend to give in this new phase of our relations is undoubtedly the economic and social development between our peoples,” added the Mozambican head of state.
