U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised what he described as an “extraordinary achievement,” saying that most countries in Latin America and the Caribbean are now led by governments aligned with the United States.

Speaking during a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Donald Trump, Rubio said that, for the first time in 15 to 20 years, the overwhelming majority of countries in the Western Hemisphere have pro-American leaders and governments.

Rubio also said that in nearly every election held since Trump was elected president, a pro-American candidate has won, describing the trend as “an incredible situation.”
