In a night dedicated to business excellence, Deloitte, Grupo Promerica, and Incae Business School celebrated the closing of the fifth edition of the Mejores Empresas Centroamericanas (MECA) program in Panama City. Under the motto “Driving the extraordinary,” MECA reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the business ecosystem in the region and recognizes 32 medium and private companies from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, which stand out for their leadership, innovation, and results.
“Although the program is made up of seven countries, each with its own culture, characteristics and nuances, there is something that the Best Central American Companies have in common: excellence and continuous improvement. Being a MECA does not depend on the country, it depends on commitment, on doing things well, with passion and purpose; on taking care of our people, on innovating and always seeking to leave a positive mark,” says Pilar Ruiz de Chávez, Partner of Best Companies in Latin America.
Across 45 countries worldwide, this global initiative drives companies that lead with strategic vision and outstanding practices, through a comprehensive diagnosis in which participating organizations document a business case that is evaluated under the five drivers of Deloitte’s Value Map, a methodology that allows determining their level of business maturity.
“At Deloitte, we recognize that medium-sized companies play a strategic role in the economy of Central America, Panama, and the Caribbean. For this reason, we reaffirm our commitment to accompany them for another year through this solid and high-impact initiative, which offers support and tools to strengthen their management and accelerate their growth in the market,” says Rafael Sayagués, Managing Partner of the Marketplace Central America, Panama, and Dominican Republic.
The 2025 edition began with a registration phase in which more than 120 companies from across the region applied. In the second phase, the companies received support from expert coaches from Deloitte, Grupo Promerica, and Incae Business School, who guided them in documenting their best practices and collectively dedicated more than a thousand hours of pro bono consulting.
Subsequently, a multidisciplinary committee from Deloitte analyzed the presented cases and shared the results with a group of advisors, comprised of representatives from the promoting institutions and external consultants, who determined the final list of companies awarded as Best Central American Companies 2025.
Among the edition’s findings, the program highlights that 63% of these companies are family businesses, reflecting their impact on the regional economy. Likewise, 25% of the represented companies have women in the CEO position, demonstrating progress in inclusion and opportunities to continue promoting equity in senior management.
“At Grupo Promerica, we believe in a stronger, more equitable, and sustainable region. That’s why we will continue to promote initiatives like MECA, which strengthen the business ecosystem and promote responsible leadership in Central America,” explains Ramiro Ortiz, CBO of Grupo Promerica.

The Closing Events, held in Panama City, brought together business leaders, institutional representatives, and media, in a symposium whose central focus was the use of artificial intelligence in business, followed by an awards ceremony that celebrated the talent, resilience, and positive impact of these 32 companies. To conclude the edition, both the recognized companies and the finalists received a feedback report prepared by multidisciplinary experts, through which they identified key strengths, compared their performance with other private companies in the sector, and obtained recommendations to accelerate their growth, improve results, and foster continuous improvement.
“With the closing of our fifth edition, we celebrate the companies that, with leadership and transformation, are generating a positive impact in their communities. Since 2021, together with Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and Incae, we have verified that leading with purpose generates a lasting social impact, necessary for the development of our region. We remain committed to promoting the extraordinary,” says Diana Espinoza, Leader of Best Central American Companies.
