Santo Domingo Oeste.– The mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, highlighted this Thursday the investments that, as he stated, the Government is executing in sports and road infrastructure in the municipality, during the reception ceremony of the Torch for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
Peña described it as an honor for the municipality to be part of the route of the flame that symbolizes the prelude to the regional sporting event and assured that the event strengthens the youth’s enthusiasm for sports.
The municipal executive pointed out that Santo Domingo Oeste is one of the municipalities where the Government is making significant investments to strengthen sports facilities.
“We are receiving the torch of the Central American and Caribbean Games in a city where President Luis Abinader is investing hundreds of millions of pesos in the construction of sports courts and a baseball stadium,” he expressed.

Likewise, he reported that during the day the groundbreaking ceremony would take place for the construction of the multipurpose center and roofed facility in Hato Nuevo, a project that, he said, will be led by the president of the Presidential Commission for the Support of Provincial Development, Ángel de la Cruz.

The mayor also announced that the president ordered the construction of streets in sectors such as Villa Verde, Ciudad Agraria, Villa Obando, and Hato Nuevo, in addition to other roads that will be executed by the city council using reinforced concrete in different communities of the municipality.
The statements were made during the reception ceremony for the Torch of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, whose route began at the Las Caobas ballpark and brought together authorities, athletes, students, and representatives from various institutions in Santo Domingo Oeste.
