Santo Domingo. The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that it detained 121 people in different sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, as part of the immigration interdiction operations carried out this Wednesday in several provinces of the country.
Among the areas intervened in the capital and its surroundings are Los Alcarrizos, Villas Agrícolas, Villa Consuelo, and María Auxiliadora. Nationwide, authorities reported a total of 989 people detained for alleged violations of immigration regulations.
The institution indicated that 872 foreigners were repatriated through the border points of Elías Piña, Dajabón, Jimaní, and Pedernales, after being unable to prove their legal stay in Dominican territory.
Of the total number of detainees, 757 were intercepted by DGM agents, while another 232 were handed over by security agencies, including the Dominican Republic Army, the National Police, and the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (Cesfront).
The operations also extended to provinces such as Monseñor Nouel, Pedernales, Elías Piña, Bahoruco, Barahona, Azua, San José de Ocoa, La Altagracia, Montecristi, and Dajabón, where the authorities carried out interventions in municipalities and communities previously identified.
