Santo Domingo, DR. – The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that it carried out immigration control operations in different areas of the country, where 983 foreigners in irregular status were detained and another 872 were deported, in accordance with the procedures established in current legislation.
The institution explained that, of the total number of detainees, 741 were apprehended directly by Migration agents, while 242 were handed over by members of military and security agencies that participated in the operations.
Among the locations where the most arrests were recorded are Santo Domingo, with 90 people; Elías Piña, with 64; Pedernales, with 63; La Vega, with 53; La Altagracia, with 50; Santiago, with 49, and Montecristi, with 47.
The operations covered sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, border provinces, tourist areas, and other demarcations. In La Altagracia, the actions included areas of Higüey, Verón-Punta Cana, and nearby communities, while interventions were also carried out in La Romana, Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Samaná, among other locations.

Regarding deportations, the DGM indicated that they were carried out through the border crossings of Elías Piña, where 403 cases were recorded; Dajabón, with 254; Jimaní, with 129, and Pedernales, with 86.

The General Directorate of Migration indicated that these operations will continue to be carried out together with the State security agencies as part of the measures to regulate the migratory status in the national territory.
