Millizen Uribe is chosen as Woman Journalist 2025 at the Antorcha Awards for her program Migrants
Santo Domingo. – Journalist, Millizen Uribe, was selected as Woman Journalist 2025 at the Antorcha Awards, in recognition of her work on Migrantes, the first seasonal television program dedicated to documenting the historical, cultural, and human contributions of migratory groups to the Dominican Republic.
The choice was made by more than a thousand women from various fields of knowledge and productive sectors of Ibero-America, integrated into the Ciudadanía Fémina community, who voted massively through a parameterized online survey. In total, 30 Dominicans were recognized in nine categories for having driven milestones during the last year and opening paths in their respective fields of action.
Migrantes, directed and co-produced by Uribe and under the general production of Gelen Gil, was broadcast on national television through Telesistema Canal 11. The program had the merit of using a different audiovisual narrative to make visible, from a historical, cultural and human perspective, the impact of migrant communities on the development of the Dominican Republic.
The production became one of the highest-rated spaces during the weekends and already has more than half a million views on its YouTube channel MigrantesRD, where the complete first season is available.
In addition to Uribe —who obtained the highest vote in the category of Female Journalist— also awarded were the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso (Public Leadership); lawyer Patricia María Santana (Community Work and Human Rights); businesswoman Ligia Bonetti; journalist and writer Emilia Pereyra; psychiatrist Yomaly Almonte; anthropologist Kathleen Martínez.
