La Romana.– A man died and several people were injured following a traffic accident recorded Wednesday afternoon on the El Seibo–La Romana highway, near Batey 105, in the municipality of Guaymate.
The victim was identified as Xavier Mercedes, who was driving a minibus that collided with an intercity bus belonging to the company SITRAIHR.
According to reports, Mercedes was transported alive to the Teófilo Hernández Hospital, in the El Seibo province, where he died while receiving medical attention due to the severity of the injuries sustained.
His wife, Anelis Castro, who is pregnant and was injured during the impact, was also traveling in the minibus. So far, no details have been provided regarding her state of health.

Units from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System, National Police agents, and members of the Fire Department arrived at the scene of the accident, where they assisted those affected and carried out the corresponding tasks.
