Motorcycle taxi driver killed with a stab to the neck during robbery in Bonao

Bonao, Monseñor Nouel. – A motorcycle taxi driver was stabbed in the neck and killed to steal his motorcycle and belongings during an assault in the municipal district of Los Quemados de Bonao, in the province of Monseñor Nouel. The victim was identified as Alfonso Marmolejos Núñez, 60 years old, whose body was found by the authorities with a mortal wound to the neck, presumably caused by a sharp weapon. According to information provided by family members, Marmolejos Núñez went to work as usual on Tuesday afternoon and was last seen around 4:00 p.m., when he provided a service as a motorcycle taxi driver. From that moment on, all contact with him was lost.

“Él salió a trabajar y siguió para otro servicio, pero no sabemos exactamente hasta dónde llegó”, expresó su sobrino Miguel Ángel Sobrino, quien explicó que la familia comenzó a preocuparse al caer la noche y procedió a reportarlo como desaparecido. Hours later, the transport worker’s body was located in the Los Quemados area, confirming the fears of his relatives. Marmolejos Núñez resided in the Los Arroces sector of Bonao, was married, and left three children. National Police agents, in coordination with the Public Ministry, initiated investigations to identify and capture those responsible for the crime. The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santiago for the corresponding autopsy. The event has generated consternation among motorcycle taxi drivers and residents of Bonao, who are demanding greater security in the face of the increase in violent acts in the area. So far, authorities have not offered official details about people arrested or the precise circumstances of the robbery.
