Motorcycle taxi driver dies after being shot by a colleague from the taxi stand following a dispute over a passenger

Santo Domingo Norte. – The National Police reported this Thursday the death of motoconcho driver José Osvaldo Silverio Polanco, who was shot during an argument with another motorcycle driver in the La Vieja Barquita sector, in Sabana Perdida. Silverio Polanco died while receiving medical attention at the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital, after being injured in a conflict that occurred on May 20, allegedly caused by a dispute over a passenger at a motoconcho stop. As the alleged perpetrator of the act, Ramón Elías Ureña Hernández, also a motorcycle taxi driver, was identified, who, according to preliminary reports, had a heated discussion with the victim before the assault.

The incident occurred on a street near the place where both were carrying out informal transportation work in the aforementioned sector of Santo Domingo Norte. The law enforcement institution indicated that, upon being reviewed in police files, both the victim and the alleged aggressor have criminal records. The Police reported that the case is still under investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the event and proceed in accordance with the law.
