La Vega, D.R. – The National Police arrested Víctor Guzmán Toribio, who is listed as one of those involved in the incident that occurred on Pedro A. Rivera Avenue, near a gas station, where a member of the institution and the detainee himself were wounded by firearm projectiles following a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.
According to preliminary investigations and witness statements, the officer was traveling on a motorcycle when, after a scrape with an SUV, the driver of the vehicle got out carrying a firearm. At that moment, an exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the injury of Private Darlyn Tineo Jerez, P.N., who remains admitted to a health center receiving medical attention.
As part of the investigative efforts, they managed to locate Víctor Guzmán Toribio at a health center in the province of Santiago, where he was detained for investigation purposes.
During the process, the two firearms used in the incident were seized, one belonging to the police officer and the other to the detainee, in addition to locating the vehicle involved in the event. The evidence will be submitted to the corresponding ballistic expert analysis to strengthen the investigation.
The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
